The Midlands best kept secret in Post-Punk Rock

‘Wicker Sunday’ were formed in 2008 from the far flung corners of Middle England, playing an infectious, effervescent cocktail of Post-Punk rock. Uniting Ben Liverman's chunky rock guitar and thought provoking lyrics with Rebecca Liverman's fearless and progressive saxophone breaks, Stephen Brown's pick and slap bass and Tim Cox's powerful, solid drums to produce a band teeming with energy and catchy gems.

Drawing their influences from bands including ‘The Levellers’, ‘The Cult’, ‘Blondie’, ‘The Who’, ‘X-Ray Spex’, 'Jethro Tull', 'Foo Fighters' and ‘Rage Against The Machine’, ‘Wicker Sunday’ burn brightly with their eclectic brand of Post-Punk rock.
The band share previous gigging experience from The Midlands, The Northwest and London, with appearances at The Cavern, The Roadmender, Carling Academies, Beautiful Days festival and Vanfest.

Having had the privilege of sharing the stage with ‘Sweet’, ‘Slade’, ‘The Levellers’, ‘The Stranglers’, ‘Sick On The Bus, ‘The Oysterband’ and ‘Trash Fashion’ the band are no strangers to the big stage.
Standout tracks include 'The Funny Thing Is’ and ‘The Father', both of which have recently been featured on BBC Radio’s ‘The Beat’.  Look out for ‘Wicker Sunday’ - the best day of the week.

Reviews

"Wicker Sunday truly are the most progressive band from Derby that I've put onto the wired stage.  Heavy grungy guitars, soulful sax and some powerful beats.  Ben always goes nuts on stage and the crowd go for it!!  Passionate lyrics, hard beats, big basslines!  Love it all!  Long live Wicker Sunday."  Alex Canner - BBC Radio Derby and Wired Promotions.

"Presenting themselves on stage with a female saxophonist, a punky looking guy on vocals and a bassist in a hat.
In my words, from the uninitiated, a solid punky, rocky band with bluesy after-tones.  A strange sounding mix, but, my word, you need to hear them to believe them.  The mix works, and it works in oodles. Fantastically rhythmical and well written sax parts, complimented by Ben on vocals, lead guitar and general enthusiasm and Steve on bass, these guys work well, very well, together.
The result is infectiously addictive sounds and a great stage-show, too, there's something about a saxophone, when it really gets going, it just adds an extra dimension, an extra level of chocolaty smooth sounds that lift the performance on to the next level.  That's what it did tonight.
Wicker Sunday, strange name, fantastic band - must see these again, without a doubt."

Unfortunately, there were only a few people watching them - but those few people would have felt much better for it!
